Following our plea for help in raising money for essential repairs to St Bartholomew’s church, we are delighted to report that we have received generous donations and support from members of the Upper Wensum benefice and Brisley parish.  We are also lucky enough to have received grants from the All Churches Trust Ltd and the Bats in Churches organisation.
This is to say thank you for those who have donated and to inform everyone that so far, the roof leak in the south aisle has been repaired. and the drain replaced.  The All Churches Trust Ltd donated £2,000 towards the cost of this work, for which we are extremely grateful.
There is more work to do, which we hope will be carried out as soon as possible, conserving the wall paintings.  To do this, an earlier report on the state of the paintings is required to be updated and will be funded by Bats in Churches.  This work will be used to produce an online document which will be available to the general public as well as providing new research material for those involved in conserving rare artefacts.
We at St Bartholomew’s are very appreciative of the support to date, and say a heartfelt thank you.”
